Awards
These awards were recently created by us as our
staff will at times encounter small business and home
produced sites of special value or unusually high design
standards which we as a company believe deserve recognition.
We only present these awards occasionally, as and when
our staff find valuable sites during the course of their
regular surfing activities
Sites presented with the IceGiant Award
are assessed on the following criteria:
- Informational Content
If a site is rich in unique information about its chosen
topic and this information is easily accessible by
visitors, we will deem it to be a superior source
of information.
- Aesthetic Value
Sites which feature exceptional layout and graphic design
are relatively uncommon in the small business and
home produced sectors and therefore worthy of reward.
- Code Base
It is also uncommon for smaller web sites, especially
home produced ones to adhere to W3C
Compliance standards
for their HTML code, although this is an important
factor in successful web promotion.
Bronze Web Design Award
  
To qualify for the bronze award,
a web site must excel in one of the categories listed
above.
Silver Web Design Award
 
If a site proves to be of an exceptionally high standard
in two of the above categories, it qualifies for the
IceGiant Silver Web Design Award.
Gold Web Design Award
 
Only those web sites which feature an outstanding layout
& design, a clean code base and are unusually rich
in unique, authoritative content qualify for the
IceGiant Gold Web Design Award. This distinction is
only rarely presented.
Please note that home produced and non-profit
web sites presented with a bronze or silver award will
also qualify for free advice about possible improvements
to be made.
